Don't miss Sunday!

I am really excited about this upcoming Sunday. Not only is it the beginning of the Denver Broncos regular season but it is also the beginning of a 9 week class called "How to Read the Bible for All It's Worth". It is based on the book by the same name.
Also this Sunday, our children's ministry begins a new season using a wonderful curriculum developed by North Point Community Church called 252Basics. Please be sure to get your kids here for a great time of singing, sharing, and learning. This month's virtue is initiative.
We also continue our sermon series on The Essentials. This week come to here some really funny and embarrassing stories about me as we look at what Scripture teaches concerning humanity.
Then Sunday night we have a Men's BBQ at 6pm. I am really looking forward to getting the men in our church together and hope to make this a regular part of our life together.
It's going to be a great Sunday...don't miss it or you'll hate yourself!

Culture of generosity

I love listening to sermons. Perhaps you have seen me at the WRAC in the early morning listening to my iPod shuffle. Maybe you thought I was listening to praise and worship music (middle-of-the-road of course, because that's what pastors listen to, right?). Nope. I'm listening to sermons.
Today I listened to a great sermon by Jeff Manion from Ada Bible Church in Grand Rapids, MI. The sermon series I am listening to by Jeff is called Culture of Generosity. It is a great sermon concerning the tithe.
If you listen to the sermon, don't be too surprised to hear some of these ideas sometime at First Christian at a later date.

Monday morning reflections
Good morning everyone!
I had a lot of fun yesterday! We started a series on the purpose of the church which will continue for most of the month of May. I hope this series inspires all of us to follow Jesus more passionately each day. Remember, the purpose of the church is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus. How are you participating in that today?
At about 2pm yesterday, Sammy went to pitching camp taught by Coach Hoch. Sam is having a lot of fun learning about pitching and he can't wait for the start of baseball season.
While working out this morning, I listened to a great sermon by Elisa Morgan, the President of M.O.P.S. She delivered the sermon at Cherry Hills Community Church in January. If you subscribe to the podcast you may still be able to download the message. Her message was about evangelism and it is inspiring and challenging!
I also listened to a sermon from Centennial Community Church, my old stomping grounds in Denver. This message was also on evangelism...okay God, am I suppose to do a sermon series on evangelism? Another great reminder that we need to be sharing our faith. A simple question to possibly help get a spiritual conversation going is this: do you have any spiritual beliefs? Tell me about them. Give it a try with someone this week and let me know how it goes!
